In the past 4 years I've made over $200,000 selling digital products on Gumroad and more than 60% of those sales were generated in the last 12 months. So, how did I get here?
I've been selling stuff online for a very long time. It all started when I got involved in the print-on-demand space in 2008, even before I had started my first full-time job. It was an exciting new market with tons of opportunity. An early glimpse of the future creator economy. In just of 12 years I managed to generate over $550,000 in royalties and I did it all next to my regular full-time job.
But in 2017 I decided it was time to take a leap of faith. It was time to finally do what I had always dreamt of doing one day: Build my own company. So I quite my job, I left the cushioned environment of the corporate world and started building an online design service (now also a stock design platform) called ThreadBasket. And although it wasn't all just fun and games, and definitely hasn't made me a lot of money personally, I still managed to generate more than $650,000 in sales with it in the last 4 years and is still live and kicking.
During that same time period I also started to dabble in marketing digital products, ranging from software/scripts to relatively basic information products. Low ticket items but also higher ticket items. And my biggest achievement on Gumroad so far has been the creation of a sustainable subscription product which has been continuously growing for 2 years and has generated the lion's share of all my sales on the platform.
In this video course, I'll show you how I built all my Gumroad products, the challenges I faced and what I've learned over the years. I'll show you that your products don't need to be complex and also don't need to change someone's life in order to be profitable. I'll show you that with the right approach, almost anyone can successfully sell digital products online.
Course structure
-
Part 1: Introduction (57min) β May 7, 2021
This mostly focuses on introducing myself and providing some background information on who I am and what sort of products I've marketed online. I also give a quick overview of my Gumroad products.
-
Part 2: Authority (1h28min) β May 14, 2021
In this part of the course I talk about how knowledge, sharing and proof points work hand in hand to increase credibility, trust and ultimately build true authority. Authority is much less about your product than about you as a person. -
Part 3: Create (45mins) β May 28, 2021
In part 3 I help you tackle the process of identifying problems that are worth solving and moving your customers from a state of pain to pleasure. I also show you how you can turn something as simple as a process into a "branded" method and packaging it in a way that's appealing to customers. -
Part 4: Market (46mins) β July 2, 2021Β
In the 4th and final part I talk about why it's not enough to simply create a product, but why it's also crucial that you actually promote it. Most people do not enjoy promoting their product and focus too little time on this crucial aspect. I give examples of how a simple approach to "funnels" can change everything and why systems are essential for scaling as a solo creator.

Why is your course for free?
I am still in the process of creating this course. I am giving it away for free to people who are genuinely interested in the content and willing to provide constructive criticism, so that I can improve and polish the product over time.
Once my beta testers believe that it's ready for wide release, I am most likely going to make it a paid product at a fair price. Every single one of my beta testers is invited to become an affiliate if they would like to help spread the word :)
